A note from the twin dragons

Okay...so it's on. Well, possibly on. Maybe on.

The old group of friends including the new mechanic.

So that we can get to know each other.

And I cannot begin to tell you the headache this has been. So, I said to my friend Leslie, watch us hate each other. Watch him hate me.

Anyway, it's maybe tomorrow night. Tuesday night dinner out. Not in. Not at Leslie's. But out on the town. Meeting him.

(I too am fatigued by the short sentences, but it correctly displays the way thoughts bounce around for me about this particular subject.)

He has one more chance to back out...tomorrow. Or two. Just not showing up.

And it's okay. I mean, it could even be a relief.

I'm fine on my own. Fine with the amount of friends that I have already. Fine.

And yet searching.

And so today, I opened up the pink box of fortune cookies (I keep them on hand for special occasions, sporadic fortune tellings or just random sweetness with oranges). I broke the cookie in two, and it said this on the tiny white slip of paper...
Someone is thinking about you.
(and I have to admit, just to you, that it, well...it felt a little magical.)

Good luck....I think dating would make me nauseous at this point in life. hahahaha. I have been married for 20 years this coming November and it just keeps getting better and better as the years go on. I can't imagine being with anyone else and I hope the same happiness for you!

Aren't you cute! 20 years is amazing. I cannot imagine that. But, I love hearing a great story. There are so many bad ones. I am a loner, so I don't know if I can handle someone in my life all the time forever. But, I do think you learn so much from the relationships in your life and the more intimate they are, the greater (and sometimes tougher) the lessons.

Have fun on your date night!

I've been married for 14 years this October, and I sometimes can't imagine someone in my life all the time forever, either.

But we get along, and it comes down to the following example-I would rather go to the DMV with her and sit and wait all day than sit front row at a Billy Joel concert with anyone else. I enjoy the few moments we are able to steal away more than anything else.

Which is not to say it's all wine and roses. I don't like wine, and the roses I tried to send on Valentine's Day got lost in transit.

But it's what I've got, and when I am smart enough to focus on it, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Oh Michael, that was a great thing to hear. Both of you are totally inspiring. Thanks for doing the work, because I think it's a lot about what you put into it. Or that's what I've heard. Lovely. I hope you share that with her.
